Disruptive Behavior Disorders (DBD's) are disorders characterized by behaviors that violate social norms and are disruptive not only to the person that has them, but to those around them as well. Adolescents with disruptive behavior disorder (DBD) and controls were investigated using an optimized MR diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) protocol in order to assess any possible structural abnormalities associated with DBD. There are three main Disruptive Behavior Disorders First is attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). Second is oppositional Defiant Disorder and last is conduct Disorder.

    Causes of Disruptive Behavior Disorder

Research has identified both biological and environmental causes for Disruptive Behavior Disorders. Youngsters most at risk for Oppositional Defiant and Conduct Disorder are those who have low birth weight, neurological damage or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Youngsters may also be at risk if they were rejected by their mothers as babies, separated from their parents and not given good foster care, physically or sexually abused, raised in homes with mothers who were abused, or living in poverty.

Parent training and therapy with the child or adolescent, is most effective when done in the family home.

DSM-IV is the most widely used nosologic system for children, but the majority of the validation sample consisted of school-age children and adolescents.

We need to highlight the importance of risk factors and other precursors that are associated with eventual delinquent behavior by targeting and intervening in the lives of children who are considered at risk well before negative behaviors occur. If we don't, young children's behavior is likely to continue and eventually turn into a long term, chronic problem as the child gets older.
